Goals

In order to address some of the limitations of the current prosthetic solutions, such as lack of customizability, affordability and functionality, we looked at many previous cases related to people affected by limb loss and who play the violin. We realized that the prosthetics that work the best are the ones made specifically for one person in particular, and when it comes to that, 3D printing is a very good alternative for both a customizable and affordable solution.

Thus, we decided that our prosthetic will be 3D designed and printed. It will be lightweight, provide more control and comfort, decrease the strain on the user’s shoulder, as well as be fast and simple to assemble. It will also be more versatile as it will allow our user to play the violin with comfort, but also perform other tasks, such as riding a bike for example.
